I graduated from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, with a B.Sc. in Physiotherapy in 2004. In 2005 I worked in a large government hospital in SA, before coming to Ireland in 2006. In 2009 I returned to South Africa and spent a year doing a combination of hospital and outpatient physiotherapy. I then moved to London in 2010 and worked in numerous NHS and private hospitals on locum contracts.
In 2011 I returned to Ireland after an extended period of travel, and established Caroline Cumming Physiotherapy in Ballydehob.

Special Interests - Lifestyle Medicine:
I completed a Post Graduate Certificate in Clinical Exercise Prescription in 2015/16 through Trinity College Dublin, which focused on using physical activity in the prevention and treatment of chronic disease and lifestyle conditions. This was the start of my interest in what is now known as Lifestyle Medicine, and I have been pursuing this interest clinically ever since.
I spent 2023/2024 studying further and recently completed the Core Accreditation Diploma in Lifestyle Medicine through the British Association of Lifestyle Medicine (https://bslm.org.uk)
I am currently enrolled in a Health Coaching course to further develop my skills in this area of work.
